From the 13th April 2026, Gateway Chemist is offering eligible patients convenient access to booster vaccinations as part of the nationwide NHS rollout in the Spring COVID-19 vaccination campaign. This seasonal initiative aims to booster population immunity, protect vulnerable groups, and reduce the risk of a potential rise in infections during the months ahead.

Following ongoing monitoring of virus trends and immunity levels, public health experts have emphasized the importance of timely booster doses, particularly for older adults and individuals with underlying health conditions. The spring campaign reflects a proactive strategy to stay ahead of evolving variants and maintain healthcare system resilience.

NHS Guidelines for Spring 2026 COVID-19 Vaccination

According to guidance from the NHS, the spring booster is being offered to those at highest risk of severe illness. Eligible groups include:

  • Adults aged 75 years and over
  • Residents in care homes for older adults
  • Individuals aged 6 months and over with weakened immune systems

The NHS recommends that eligible individuals receive their booster dose approximately six months after their last COVID-19 vaccination, although this may vary depending on personal medical circumstances.

Continuing the Effort

Officials stress that while COVID-19 is no longer classified as a global emergency, it remains a persistent public health concern. Vaccination continues to be one of the most effective tools in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and long-term complications.

The NHS continues to reassure the public that COVID-19 vaccines have a strong safety profile. Common side effects are typically mild and short-lived, including soreness at the injection site, fatigue, or a mild fever.

Supporting Community Health

By taking part in the spring vaccination campaign, Gateway Pharmacy plays an important role in supporting public health and ensuring that protection against COVID-19 remains strong across the community.

Patients are encouraged to check their eligibility and take advantage of the service to stay protected this spring.

Booking and Availability

Appointments at Gateway Pharmacy can be arranged through NHS booking systems or by contacting the pharmacy directly on 0208 346 4530. Walk-in services may also be available, depending on demand and supply.

Patients are reminded to delay their appointment if they are unwell or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and to wait a short period after a recent infection before receiving the vaccine.

Health authorities encourage everyone eligible to take advantage of the campaign and play their part in keeping communities safe this season.
